About Us
Set up by and run by parents and carers of children with Diabetes, the group operates under the supervision of Diabetes UK. Our main objective is to provide support for children with Diabetes and their carers, although raising awareness of the condition and fundraising are also a big part of what we do. Many of our awareness and fundraising events are centred around the children and we always encourage them to take part. While raising awareness or funds, they are also making friends with other children with Diabetes and are able to share support and advice or discuss their feeling with people in a similar situation rather than just adults or NHS staff.
The group works closely with the local Diabetes Care Team and we are often visited by members of the team who deliver talks or advice in an informal manner.
The group is run by a committee elected from the parents of children in the group at our AGM. Any parent or carer is eligible any any help is always welcomed. The Committee>
Any child living in the area under the age of 18 is eligible and new members are always welcomed. There is no charge for membership and most of our events are subsidised or even free. If you want to find out what we do, simply come along to the next meeting and see what you're missing.
