Meetings & Events

Childrens Centre Conference Room
What happens at a meeting?

Meetings are normally held on the first Tuesday of the month in the Children's Centre, Walker Street, Hull. Start time is 7pm and the meeting normally lasts a maximum of two hours. The meeting is normally split into two halves: the first half is fairly formal and covers plans for the future, problems encountered by parents and updates from past meetings. The second half is more informal and is usually free discussion of problems and solutions found with everyone getting a chance to meet and talk to other parents and carers.

Childrens Centre Indoor Play Area
Can I bring my child?

Children are welcome and positively encouraged to attend, Older children may wish to sit in on a meeting and take part, while for younger children there are indoor and outdoor play areas. Toys and games are provided and some of the older children try to organise games and activities for the younger children. Neither area is supervised, but both are next to the meeting room and older children look after the younger one, bringing them through in the event of tears or Hypo.

Kayaking
What happens at an event?

Events are almost always centred around the children. The only exception is our annual Race Night which is adults only. At fundraisers, everyone is kitted out with a group t shirt or tabard and given a job to do from holding a collection bucket to looking after a stall or raising awareness. Fun events have, in the past, included Indoor Football, Bowling, Kayaking and Ice Skating.
